Independent 20th Century : Booth A5

For the 2024 Independent 20^th Century, Van Doren Waxter is pleased to present Landscape Figuration, showcasing works by Rosemarie Beck, Zoe Longfield, Vivian Springford, and Tom Fairs.

 

This presentation explores the common thread of gesturalism and observation among the three American women artists, Beck, Longfield, and Springford, and the English artist, Fairs. Their works embody the spirit of looking, of people and landscape, which comes before any stylistic categorization applied to them as abstract or expressionist paintings. The four artists in this exhibition experimented with a wide range of mediums, which led to bodies of works with a heightened sense of materiality unique to their own.
