Art Basel Miami Beach : Booth G2
Overview
Van Doren Waxter will present paintings and sculptures that examine topological relationships, highlighting artists from the gallery’s program as well as important figures from the late 20th century. The booth will include works by Barbara Hepworth, Arthur Monroe, John McLaughlin, Vera Molnar, George Rickey, David Smith, and Anne Truitt.
Across varying mediums from gouache, oil, and enamel to steel, bronze, and wood, this group of works reshapes the perception of space. Beyond the gestures and geometries within the surface and structure of the works, these works offer an abstraction of physical and psychological space between the artwork and the viewer. Without the guidance of representation or association, these works invite a state of ambiguity and contemplation
