Norman Bluhm (b. 1921, Chicago, IL) began his studies in architecture at the Armour Institute of Technology (now the Illinois Institute of Technology), where he studied under Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. After serving in the World War II, he shifted his focus to art, studying at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze in Florence and later at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris.

Bluhm’s work was the subject of solo exhibitions at galleries including the Washburn Gallery and Leo Castelli Gallery in New York City, as well as the Corcoran Gallery of Art. He also participated in group exhibitions at major institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, and the Whitney Museum of American Art.

His work is held in prominent public collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and the Art Gallery of Ontario.

Bluhm died in 1999 at the age of 78 in East Wallingford.
