Biography
Vivian Springford (b. 1913 – d. 2003) started her career as a commercial illustrator in the 30s, painting portraits of celebrities and socialites of New York. Influenced by East Asian arts and abstract expressionism, Springford experimented with staining and gestural painting which resulted in vibrant pools of color.
